Our Sacraments

A sacrament is an outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible grace.  There are Two Sacraments explicitly commended to the Church by our Lord Jesus Christ: The Lord’s Supper and Baptism.

The Lord's Supper

We use the elements of bread and wine in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, with unfailing use of Christ’s words of Institution, as ordained by Christ himself.

Baptism

We use the element of water in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism as ordained by Christ himself.

Minor Offices

In addition to the Two Sacraments, we recognize and practice other significant church rites in continuity with the ancient and historical Church.  These rites are known as the “Minor Offices.”

Confirmation

A strengthening, perfecting, and fulfilling of the grace given in baptism

Marriage

The union of a man and a woman in a covenant instituted by God

Ordination

The setting apart of a deacon, presbyter, or bishop, with the special authority to preach the Word, administer the Sacraments, guard doctrine, equip the saints, protect the weak, and exercise church discipline

Prayer for the Sick

Intercession before God for strength, healing, and hope

Penance and Reconciliation

The acknowledgement of sin and assurance of forgiveness
